This is my newest “wave” sculpture inspired by the Japanese master of woodcut prints, Hokusai. Rippling cylinders of clay are carved, pierced and textured from white stoneware clay. After the piece is bisqued in sections I paint and airbrush the glazes. After the glaze firing the piece was attached to a wood backboard with hanging wire. I hope to convey the the power of nature and it’s graceful beauty.
